Diagnosis of Lactose Intolerance
What diagnostic methods are available?
1. Tolerance test lacto
The patient will provide 100 grams of lactose and blood samples taken at 30, 60 and 120 minutes after ingestion. Normally you should see a rise 2mg/dl glucose at 2 hours after ingestion of lactose.
2. Test Hydrogen Breath
The patient is given a lactose solution and time intervals after it makes a watertight bags blowing where samples are collected. When undigested sugars are transported to the intestine, where bacteria use it as food and create hydrogen as a waste product. Hydrogen is absorbed by the blood flow and issued in breathing. Hydrogen detected in the breath indicates that sugar has entered the large intestine and have not been well absorbed in the small intestine. Should see an increase in breath hydrogen after ingestion of lactose. Read the rest of this entry »

This type of intolerance is very common in children after an episode of acute gastroenteritis. TRANSITIONAL I RECOVERABLE
2. Primary or genetic intolerance (minority): There is a gradual loss of lactase production, and therefore a gradual loss of ability to digest milk. Usually occurs along the living in certain ethnic groups and has a genetic cause. The people with the intolerance are noticing how their milk intake because more and more symptoms.
