In turn, a deficiency of vitamin B2 can cause photophobia, keratopathy and optic neuropathy, depending on the degree of impairment. Also excessive intake of nutrients is the origin of disease with severe impact on vision, such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity.

The book compiles the results of research conducted by the University of Malaga on animal model in which it was found the effect of virgin olive oil on the retinal vasculature in diabetic rats.
