Over 40% of the population has changed their hygiene habits in the kitchen with the emergence of influenza A

About 43 % of the population claims to have somehow changed their hygiene habits in the kitchen with the emergence of influenza A, making a particularly significant at 19.1 per cent of cases, as shown in the study by Silestone Institute, which analyzes how they have been altered hygiene habits in the kitchen of the Spanish.

The survey also shows that the concern caused by influenza A has caused major changes in hygiene habits in the kitchen of the Spanish youths between 25 and 39 years, at 57.9 percent of the cases – still on all island residents (56.6%) and in the southern region (54.6%).

More than half of the population (51%) has changed somehow hygiene habits in general. In particular, a quarter of the respondents (24.1%), has changed dramatically, very or fairly. These people, consciousness with the role of hygiene in preventing infection, relate mainly to the younger segment of the population studied, 25 to 39 years (62.8%). As to whether it highlights the changes in health habits of the population of the islands and the east of Spain.

Microbes in the kitchen

Moreover, 70 percent of the population believes that Spanish cuisine is one of the areas where there are more germs harmful to health. Among this group, youth aged 25 to 39 years of age are the group that is more aware of the importance of hygiene in the kitchen, considering that in this area of the house there is germs that can harm the health of household members . While older people (55 to 74 years) are saying, to a lesser extent, the kitchen is a source of infection.

For areas are southern Spain and the islands where there is a major concern, while in the north is where a smaller percentage of people who consider the kitchen as a place where germs breed.

On knowledge of hygiene, the survey demonstrates a great ignorance about what hygiene measures can be taken into the kitchen to prevent disorders or intoxications speak. Specifically, 88 percent of Spanish people know what to do or how to improve the hygiene of your home and your kitchen in particular.

Moreover, this misinformation is also reflected in the type of products used to clean materials and equipment from different areas of the kitchen. Thus, 37.2 % say they clean the rest of the kitchen with the same detergent used to clean the dishes.
