Types of Allergies

types of allergiesHere are the most common types of allergies:

Asthma. Respiratory disease that causes inflammation of the tubes that carry air to the lungs as a result of excessive sensitivity or allergy to irritants, such as pollen, smoke, dust, certain products or animal hair. It manifests itself choking, coughing, chest tightness and wheezing.

When the person is stable, your breathing may be normal, because air can flow freely into the lungs, but if you have a cold, flu or is exposed to the substances mentioned above, the airways become obstructed. This happens because the walls are inflamed, the muscles contract around them, and it adds high production of mucus, which further narrowed these channels making breathing difficult. It can occur at any age, but hardly within 2 or 3 years is not curable, can only control it.

Conjunctivitis. Between the eye and inner eyelid is a mucous membrane called the conjunctiva, whose function is to keep eyes moist and in joint action with the tears, keep them free of contamination of the environment. Thus, when the conjunctiva is inflamed by contact with dust, animal hair and feathers, flowers and humidity, it is called conjunctivitis, which is characterized by feeling as if something in the eye, redness of the white area, eyelid inflammation and itching and mucus secretion.

Eczema. Also called contact dermatitis, is an outbreak of red bumps on the cheeks, wrists, knees and the inside of the elbows, which causes intense itching, irritation, tiny ulcers and scaling. Its appearance is related to large number of chemicals that have contact with the skin. It can occur from two months of age or people with dry skin and even sometimes after eating certain foods such as milk or eggs. The most common irritants are soaps with fragrance or chlorine, plastics and some cosmetics.

Rhinitis. When the allergy is to dust, pollen, moisture and mold (among other compounds) is called allergic rhinitis, and may occur at any age, and even be inherited from parents. Symptoms are gradual and begin to produce itchy nose, palate, back of throat and eyes. Then the last cry, sneezing and runny manifest through the nose. It is not unusual to have a headache, cough, fever, difficulty sleeping, poor appetite and a person becomes depressed and irritable.

What to do?

Medicine to date no definitive solutions allergy, only temporarily relieve symptoms by palliative drugs such as antihistamines, which prevent the release of histamine, or bronchodilators, which provide breathing in asthma attacks and steroid , synthetic hormones that eliminate the symptoms of inflammation.

However, treatments to address allergy vaccines are based on 80% of cases, and which can be reached by specific studies of each patient. To indicate the relevant vaccine, the doctor performs a test of awareness in the patient’s skin, which is commonly played, is on the back – such a reaction by contact with allergens, selected according to clinical history patient, other tests are the oral challenge, useful for diagnosing the disease when caused by drugs and foods. This will identify the elements that cause allergies, and the results are preparing a unique substance that builds up the patient.

It is important to use a true specialist in the field (allergist), whom we can trust the quality of the vaccine obtained, it is common to find in the market vaccines without scientific basis and which may impact on our health.
